Yaneira Barrera was born in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, and relocated to Houston, Texas, at the age of seven. She is fluent in both Spanish and English. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University in 2016 and began her career at Texas Children’s Hospital, where she gained over eight years of experience providing care across multiple pediatric specialties, including Acute Care, Hematology & Oncology, and the Pulmonary Adolescent Endocrine Unit.

Motivated by her passion for pediatric health, Mrs. Barrera completed her Master of Science in Nursing at Houston Christian University and became a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care. She also holds certifications in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).

Mrs. Barrera grew up in the Aldine District and takes pride in continuing to serve the community and surrounding areas where she was raised. She and her husband, her high school sweetheart, are the proud parents of a son and daughter. Outside of her professional role, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, baking, and caring for her plants. She remains dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care and is honored to advocate for the health and well-being of children and their families.
