Sammy C. Melendez, MSN, FNP-C was born and raised in Houston, TX to Guatemalan parents. He is a husband, a father to 6 boys and a self proclaimed “foodie”. He is an avid sports fans and loves all of his Houston sports teams!

Sammy entered the medical field in the prehospital setting as a Paramedic in 1997 and has worked in a variety of setting as such. He returned to school to make the Paramedic to RN transition at Lonestar College in 2014. He graduated with his BSN from UT Arlington in 2016. As a staff RN he worked in the fast paced ER setting and even worked in a pediatric ER for 1 year. Sammy then continued his education and graduated from Anderson University (South Carolina) in 2018 with his MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner and is certified through the AANP as an FNP-C. He is also certified with: BLS, ACLS, PALS & ITLS.

Sammy is very excited to join WeeKare pediatrics and to make a difference in many patient’s lives. He has a passion for providing excellent care and for making the entire “patient experience” a great one for the patient and their families. Feel free to talk with him about foods, cultures and traveling since his ultimate life goal is to one day travel the world.
